SPLASH 1: FIELD EXCURSIONS FOR 1st GRADE CLASSES
Spend the day around the Indian River Lagoon Exploring Homes & Habitats!
The goal of this program is to provide a positive, outdoor experience that promotes awareness of and inspires interest in the world around us. Hands-on learning is emphasized. This excursion sets the stage for the environmental education effort that the ELC builds upon in third grade (Splash 3) and fourth grade (Lagoon Days).
Teachers: Links below provide information for you for bringing your classes to campus.
GENERAL INFORMATION & OVERVIEW:
Field study includes: Pond Lab, Living vs. Non-Living Game, Leaf ID Study, RRR Game, Discovery Station and Touch Tank Encounter!
This excursion meets several Science “Big Ideas” and “benchmarks,” but it also addresses others (Language Arts, Social Studies, and PE). We think your students will master 7 benchmarks, investigate 13 others, and touch on another 9. That’s pretty good for one day! If you are interested in the exact standards, feel free to request them.
