Whether you’re an experienced birder or just a beginner our native birds are sure to delight. In addition to being part of the Great Florida Birding Trail, Indian River is also home to Pelican Island National Wildlife Refuge – America’s first wildlife refuge. Over thirty species of birds use Pelican Island as a rookery, roost, feeding ground, or loafing area.
Our friends at the Pelican Island Audubon Society have put together a great webinar on strategies for oberseving bird migration in Indian River County. Watch and learn, then take your binoculars out to see what you can find!
Mark the birds you’ve seen a the Environmental Learning Center! When you’re on campus, check out our new Bird Bingo sign located just outside the Entry Pavilion as you enter the ELC’s campus.
