Pond Dip Netting

Party guests will need to wear their water shoes to wade into our pond and catch the fish and critters that call it home.  This catch and release experience gives everyone an up close look at what lives in the water and how they got there.

Seine Netting

Party guests should prepare to get wet as we wade into the lagoon and use seine nets to collect different marine life.  This collection method is used by real scientists to observe and track biodiversity.  Your guests will experience the thrill of uncovering what lives in the water column!

Nature Crafts

Explorers will get inspired by local plants and animals and participate in a nature craft that they can take home.  If possible, craft will be designed around child’s interest.

In this activity, party guests will enjoy searching for the most biodiverse areas of campus using a 1’ PVC cube to observe life in all its forms.  The Biocube is part of a Smithsonian citizen science project taking place around the world to track and compare biodiversity in different regions.

Night Hike

Experience the creatures of the night that live on the ELC campus.  This guided hike, led by an ELC naturalist, will take guests on the boardwalk trails and to the lagoon to see what lives in the dark.  Bats, bugs, and bioluminescent worms are just some things we might discover!
