The ELC EcoAction Citizen Science Partners Program, or simply EcoAction, is the Environmental Learning Center’s hands-on, community-powered initiative focused on conservation, environmental education, and citizen science.
This volunteer-powered program brings together individuals, families, and partner organizations to learn, act, and lead in protecting the Indian River Lagoon and surrounding ecosystems. Whether you’re building oyster mats, cleaning shorelines, attending a native plant workshop, or helping with data collection, EcoAction is about showing up for our environment in real, tangible ways.
We believe that local action creates global ripples. EcoAction offers meaningful opportunities to:
Make a direct impact on local ecosystems
Partner with other nonprofits and agencies on shared conservation goals
Learn about ongoing environmental efforts from experts and educators
Build community with like-minded individuals who care about nature
EcoAction volunteers lead and support a wide variety of efforts, including:
Native plant nursery care
Beach, trail, and waterway cleanups
Oyster restoration and marine debris tracking
Citizen science and environmental monitoring
Eco-education events and tabling at local festivals
Wildlife conservation and habitat restoration projects
Community talks and awareness campaigns
You don’t need to be a scientist, just someone who cares. EcoAction is open to:
Adults and families
Teens (with parent/guardian permission)
School, church, and scout groups
Corporate and civic teams
Anyone ready to get their hands (a little) dirty for a cleaner, healthier planet
