Plan Your ELC Field Trip

Customize An Immersive Field Trip at ELC for a Day of Fun Eco-Adventures

We offer customizable Ecological Field Trips for youth and adults! For information and to request a field trip for your school, group, team, class, staff, family, etc., email Education@DiscoverELC.org or call 772-589-5050.

In-season: Dec, Jan, Feb, March, April, June, & July
Off-season: May, Aug, Sept, Oct & Nov

We have designed a few programs for specific grade levels with teachers in mind, but any of these may be customized for any age, grade, or group. If you have an organized group and would like to create a special itinerary of activities for your field trip, please let us know, and we will work to make it happen. Additional charges may apply. Scholarship opportunities available.

Young Explorers

PreK – 1st grade – 2 hour program
$15 in-season/$10 off-season per student
Explore the Discovery Station aquariums, touch tank, and interactive exhibits. Go Dip- Netting in the Pond and take a sensory Mangrove Marsh Walk. Minimum of 15 participants.

Splash

2nd – 3rd grade – 3.5 hour program
$20 in-season/$15 off-season per student
Learn about adaptations and food webs while exploring the Discovery Station aquariums, touch tank and interactive exhibits. Go Dip-Netting in the Pond, take a sensory Mangrove Marsh Walk, and discover more about Fascinating Florida Reptiles. Minimum of 15 participants.

Lagoon Days

4th – 12th grade – 3.5 hour program
$30 in-season/$25 off-season per student
Rotate through different stations covering components of the diverse IRL ecosystem, Seine Netting, Mangrove Marsh Walk, Canoeing, or Squid Dissection and Plankton Lab. Minimum of 15 participants.

Sea to Shore, Florida’s Great Outdoors

From the gigantic Atlantic to the Indian River Lagoon, learn about Florida’s diverse coastal ecosystems and the wildlife that lives there. Choose 3 activities from a variety of eco-themes:

  • Canoeing (Add $5 per person) – Age 8 +
  • Seine-netting – Age 8 +
  • Pond Laboratory with Dip-netting
  • Turtles, Tortoises & Terrapins
  • Florida’s Reptiles – Sea Turtles to Snakes
  • Plankton Lab Microscopes
  • Discovery Station
  • Squid Dissection – Age 8 +
  • Archery – Age 8 +
  • Mangrove Marsh Coastal Walk
  • How to Fly a Drone – Age 8 +

Adult Field Trip On Boat

Boat Eco-Tours

All ages – 2 hour program
$500 in-season / $400 off-season
Take a private boat excursion; Pelican Island, Spoil Island Seining, Survivor Island Skills, and Sebastian Inlet (2.5hrs). Maximum of 16 passengers.

Self-Guided Activities

All ages – 1 & 2 hour programs
$10 adults/$5 child/under 2 free + equipment rental fee for dip-netting: nets, binoculars, microscope, and other tools for exploration.

Plan a self-guided field trip at the ELC and create your own activities itinerary. Explore the pond with dip-nets, walk the interpretive trails, visit the touch tank, and more!

Outreach

All ages – 1 & 2 hour program
$300 per hour + $50 travel in county/$100 travel out of county.
Arrange for an ELC educator to come to you with our Outreach Program.
