The Environmental Learning Center is delighted to introduce Roger L. Hammer, an award-winning professional naturalist, botanist, photographer, author, and television survivalist. Known for his vibrant personality and deep expertise, Roger’s life’s work celebrates Florida’s rich natural heritage while inspiring others to explore and protect it.

As a survivalist instructor on Discovery Channel’s Naked & Afraid, Roger shares his unparalleled knowledge of the natural world in extreme environments. His adventurous spirit and passion for the outdoors are matched by his artistic talents, evident in his photography and illustrations that capture the breathtaking beauty of Florida’s flora and fauna.

Roger is also a sought-after speaker, presenting entertaining and informative programs to orchid societies, garden clubs, butterfly organizations, Audubon societies, environmental groups, and civic organizations across the country. His ability to educate and inspire audiences, paired with his keen sense of humor, makes him a captivating storyteller.

His latest art exhibit at the ELC is a reflection of his unique connection to nature and his commitment to conservation. Join us for a special lunch event where Roger will discuss his fascinating journey—from teaching survival skills to showcasing the wonders of Florida’s environment through his art.
