Get Up Close and Ecological

Cool off and explore ELC's indoor activities

Take a break from outdoor adventures and dip into the Living Lagoon to cool off and explore our air-conditioned nature space. Inside, you’ll find a variety of aquariums, a large touch tank, an indoor active beehive, a full-size manatee skeleton, and many other interpretive exhibits and interactive displays showing ways you can help protect the fragile Indian River Lagoon ecosystem.

Large Aquarium

Aquariums

Experience a variety of aquariums filled with seahorses, seagrass, lionfish, pipefish, and more. Our 1,000-gallon aquarium features native species from the Indian River Lagoon, such as mangrove snapper, puffer, and sheepshead.

Touch Tank

Our 145-gallon Touch Tank helps visitors get an up-close experience, respectfully interacting with and learning about sea stars, horseshoe crabs, sea urchins, and other elusive species that might go unnoticed in the wild.

Feed The Fish

Feed the fish with our trained Aquarist and learn what happens behind the scenes for an even closer look.

Exhibits & Displays

Say hello to Cornelia Maize the red corn snake and meet our ambassador, Argyle the terrapin turtle. Experience an indoor active beehive and many other interpretive exhibits and interactive displays showing ways you can help protect the fragile Indian River Lagoon ecosystem. From composting and recycling to learning the value of seagrass, you’ll leave knowing a bit more and feeling empowered to act as a good environmental steward.
