ELC OFFERINGS FOR
ORCHID ISLAND CLUB COMMUNITY

We are happy to offer these monthly and seasonal events for the residents of Orchid Island Club and their visiting families and guests. Attend an engaging educational talk or set out on a paddling adventure on the Indian River Lagoon. Bring the grandkids to the Discovery Station for an immersive Touch Tank experience and see up close what species are living here in our own backyard. Choose from a variety of programs for kids and adults including wellness activities, private boat tours, and more!

45-minute Orchid boat trips: Special quick trip for Orchid Island residents at 2PM which include same-day entrance to ELC ($25 for adults, $10 for kids under 12). These trips will take you on a scenic tour of the Indian River Lagoon led by one of the ELC‘s knowledgeable and experienced environmental tour guides. Feel free to bring sustainably packed snacks and drinks. These trips need a minimum of 6 guests for the tour to launch. Register here. In addition, we also offer private and public award-winning Pontoon Boat Tours.

Touch Tank and Discovery Station: Open all day and included with entrance to the ELC. Have a great time with your family looking at our beautiful aquariums, learn about the problems facing the Indian River Lagoon, meet NOODLE the Albino Corn snake (the ELC’s friendly snake Ambassador!), and see the newest spectacularly magical addition to the ELC Discovery Station - SEAHORSES! Enjoy our touch tank full of sea stars, sea urchins, hermit crabs, and horseshoe crabs! 


Seining: Get your hands dirty & feet wet while discovering the unique species living in the Indian River Lagoon Estuary by gently sweeping them up in a seine net to identify them before releasing them back into the estuary. The cost is $10 for one hour at 2PM with someone from our Education Team. Register here.

Craft: Join us for a fun and simple craft at 1 pm under the Discovery Station. 
 

Reptile interpretation program: Learn about Florida’s reptiles, from sea turtles to snakes. Enjoy our 30-minute interpretation program teaching you and your family about reptiles they will encounter in the backyard. We are so fortunate to live near the Archie Carr refuge, the largest nesting site for Loggerhead sea turtles in America, if not the world. Learn about snakes, an animal every family member will encounter living in Florida. The cost of this event is $5 per child and will take place in the Discovery Station at 2 pm. Register here.

Coastal walk: Take a walk through the Coastal habitat of the ELC campus with your environmental education guide learning about the importance of mangroves to our unique and diverse ecosystem. Learn about the different plants and trees that offer food not only for wildlife, but for humans as well and could be used for medicinal purposes, or even shelter. Meet at 2 PM. Register here.
