Paddle Excursions & Rentals

To ensure safety and an enjoyable experience for all, please review the following requirements before booking:

Age Requirements

• Minimum age: Participants must be at least 8 years old.
• Renting a kayak:
  • Must be at least 18 years old to rent on their own.
  • Renters aged 16–17 years old must be checked in by a legal guardian but can go unaccompanied on the water.
  • Participants under 16 years old must always be accompanied by a legal guardian.

Weight Limit

• Participants must weigh no more than 250 pounds.

Check-In Policy

• All guests must check in with ELC staff at the Welcome Center 30 minutes before their scheduled departure.

Safety Equipment

• Personal Flotation Device (PFD):
  • Mandatory for all participants 14 years old and younger while on the water. (PFDs are provided by ELC.)
  • All participants must have a PFD on board, equipped with an emergency whistle.

Emergency Preparedness

• Guests must bring a cell phone to ensure contact in case of emergencies.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to enter and exit a kayak or canoe unassisted, requiring moderate upper and lower body strength.
• Must be able to paddle for the duration of the trip, which may involve extended periods of moderate physical exertion, depending on weather conditions and the trip’s length.
