Bagworm Moths

Updated: Jul 2, 2020

Bets are you’ve seen hundreds of these interesting invertebrate architects. These small and often overlooked insects invest a ton of work just to blend in. In fact, they build a camouflaged fort of sticks, plant bits, and super strong threads of silk.

This stick fort protects them from hungry birds and predatory insects. Once you take a closer look, you’ll see these industrious builders all over your house, fence, outdoor furniture, and pretty much everywhere else! Can you find an active, crawling bagworm moth in YOUR yard?
