College Internships Indian River County

The ELC provides local college students with paid internships that offer meaningful experiences in the environmental field. This program is made possible through the generous support of Quail Valley Charities.

Meet our 2020 College intern Angel (pictured below in teal - collecting oysters with Florida Department of Environmental Protection) and read about her experience at the ELC!

The Environmental Learning Center knows how to get its’ interns excited about our duties and goals! Prior to this internship, I had little knowledge of local marine animals but now, I am constantly thinking of them and the facts I have learned. I feel more connected to my community!

It was such a pleasure to work with everyone there and it is an experience I will never forget. My tasks include: assisting on Family Lagoon Island Adventure tours, teaching about marine animals through Zoom, representing ELC at events, answering the phones, creating their signs, social media posts and educational videos for their take-home lessons and, lastly, feeding the creatures in the aquariums and weighing out their food for the week.

Here is an educational video that Angel created to support our Nature Near You Kits:

The ELC would like to thank Angel for her hard work this summer supporting our mission to educate, inspire and empower people to be active stewards of the environment and their own well being.
