ELC Donor Spotlight: William & Carol Barrows

It’s inspiring how one individual’s gift can make a lasting impact on the future work of the ELC. The Environmental Learning Center relies on the generosity of donors and is grateful to have the support of Mr. and Mrs. Barrows to continue to inspire eco-warriors for generations to come.

There’s a reason the ELC matters to you. Perhaps you have memories of visiting the ELC as a child and now bring your own family or friends. Perhaps you’re a member or volunteer who’s generously donated your time or money to support our work. Perhaps you believe in our mission to be a forerunner of not just environmental stewardship, but also improving human wellness through nature connections.

For Mr. and Mrs. William and Carol Barrows, the ELC is a place where memories were made, as well as a place for growth.

“Carol and I go back to the days beginning shortly after ELC was founded, enjoying great times with George Bunnell and Holly Dill as the organization grew. We eventually established a pledge in memory of my first wife, Patricia, whose likeness appears on the bronze plaque in the lobby,” Mr. Barrows said. “We’re proud to see the ELC continue to grow, and are excited about the new plans for expansion. The obvious success of the organization is the result of many dedicated individuals - staff, volunteers, and donors. We expect to see these plans fulfilled”.

The Barrows have supported the Environmental Learning Center for over 18 years now in numerous ways. They have made two pledges to the Endowment Campaign in honor of Patricia G. Barrows, and another as a legacy challenge gift in their will. The Barrows have also supported the ELC’s internship program which has allowed us to improve and expand our programming.

Thank you, Mr. and Mrs. Barrows!

If you are interested in planned giving or have included the ELC in your will, our Legacy for the Lagoon program will create a legacy that lasts forever. Please email Give@DiscoverELC.org.
