Nature walks in Vero Beach
Vero Beach offers beautiful natural scenery for nature lovers. The Environmental Learning Center (ELC) is located on a 64-acre lagoon island that offers a well-maintained space of native Florida.
The ELC is offering nature walks every Friday morning from 10:30-11:15 am. The nature walks are led by a knowledgeable volunteer who will guide you through our native plant garden, mangrove trails, and hammock forests. Learn about the different types of mangrove trees and native flora and fauna found at the ELC.

During your nature walk on the ELC campus, you could see a variety of wildlife including:

There is also a great diversity of birds who live in and migrate to the Vero Beach area. You can see:
osprey diving for fish in the Indian River Lagoon
pelicans resting on the ELC pontoon dock
red-bellied woodpeckers flying in the trees
and many more!
Join a nature walk in Vero Beach
The ELC nature walks take place on our Wabasso Island campus and is included free with admission. Please arrive by 10:15 am so you can meet your guide and make any final preparations before you depart on the nature walk. We suggest that you bring a refillable water bottle, mosquito spray, sunscreen and wear comfortable clothes and shoes. This is a leisurely nature walk, but the Florida sun can be hot, so be prepared to get a little sweaty!
