The holidays make us joyful and thankful for our large and loving ELC family! From our staff and board of directors, we wish you the happiest of holiday seasons!

A Year of Reflection
2020's been crazy
No denying the fact
Pandemic and elections
A balancing act
Holed up with our tribe
Some stuck all alone
Lacking connection
Just Zoom or Phone
In search of some groceries
empty shelves found instead
A daily adventure
each time we got out of bed
Really missing our restaurants
Trips and events
Needing visits with loved ones
A common lament
Skepticism and fear
Swirled all around
Economic uncertainty
Losses abound
Social unrest
Debates about masks
Virtual schooling and
Remote work tasks
Boundaries are blurred
Routines a thing of the past
Everyone wondering
How long this will last?
People forced to slow down
Constant motion is halted
A reset is happening
New priorities exalted
We caught up on sleep
Watched movies on the couch
When we got hungry
Put home-cooked food in our mouth
Lack of certainty caused us
not to take things for granted
home improvements were made and
gardens were planted
Pollution was easing
We did not expect this
A bonus for the earth
has been one of the gifts
People returned
to the great outdoors
They’d forgotten the wonderful
adventures it stored
The peace and simplicity
Connection to self
A focus on nature
Led to a desire to help
When what to our wondering
eyes did appear
Folks lending a hand
to those far and near
This coming together
and letting things go
Who could have predicted?
How could anyone know?
A common refrain
Hoping the end is in sight
Happy 2020 to all
And to all Goodness and Light!
