NOAA Planet Stewards Beach Cleanup on Treasure Coast

Updated: Jan 5

Join us on November 21st from 9 to 11am at Golden Sands Beach to help pick up trash and clean the beach for our #NOAAPlanetStewards project!

Thanks to our generous sponsors, Target Vero Beach, the first 20 people to register will receive a free reusable water bottle!*

NOAA Planet Stewards

This beach cleanup is the second in a series of cleanups as part our the Environmental Learning Center (ELC) participation in the NOAA Planet Stewards program.  Our Junior Interpreters and other volunteers will weigh the debris that is collected, track the types of marine debris collected to add to NOAA’s database of types and locations or marine debris, and then use what is collected to create an artistic display for the Discovery Station.  The display will be designed and created by our Junior Interpreters and, in addition to the artist display, will include information on sources and solutions to marine debris pollution.

Additionally, the ELC Junior Interpreters will be working to design an advocacy program aimed at reducing the number of single-use plastics brought by our day camp program participants to the ELC campus.
