Often practiced as self-defense, Tai Chi involves actions skillfully executed through careful movement control and maneuvering rather than through overt external physical force. Movements that are slow, continuous, and flowing have been shown to promote calmness, the release of stress and tension, and heightened awareness of the body in relation to its environment. Chris Brenner is a retired Naval officer/high school educator and 2019 graduate of the Tai Ji Quan Instructor Training program, Exercise Alternatives, LLC.
