Kayak Rentals

​There is no better way to experience the Indian River Lagoon than to rent a kayak and enjoy a day exploring the protected coves and mangrove trails that surround the Environmental Learning Center's island campus. Kayak rentals include all other necessary equipment and safety gear.

Reservations required. A minimum of 24 hours cancellation notice is required to receive a refund. If less than 24 hours’ notice is given, we will try to reschedule for another trip, though this cannot be guaranteed.

Our staff will make sure to give you as much help planning your adventure as possible, so you feel confident in your route and abilities before you set off on your own! Please call 772-589-5050 ext. 101 to inquire about a kayaks.

Guided Tours:

List price + $25 per hour for guide - General Public Rate

List price + $22.50 per hour for guide - Member Rate

What you need to know:

  • Reservations must be received 24 hours in advance of launch time.

  • Renters may not exceed the manufacturer’s weight limit for the vessel (450 lbs. tandem kayak or 275 lbs. single kayak).

  • Minimum age for rental is 8 years old.

  • Closed toe and closed heeled shoes are required.

  • Renters need  the ability to follow verbal and/or visual instructions independently or with the assistance of a companion.

  • Renters must have the ability to wear a properly fitted personal flotation device.

  • The ability to enter and exit the kayak independently or with the assistance of a companion or with the use of adaptive equipment is required.

  • The renter must have the ability to move the kayak through the water in a stable manner and return it to the launching area.

  • The renter must have the ability to tolerate 80 degree Fahrenheit water and bright sunlight for the length of the rental.

  • In case of a capsize the renter must have the ability to get out from under the watercraft independently and the ability to right oneself and remain face up in the water with the aid of a personal flotation device.

  • All equipment must be returned in the same condition as when it was issued at the end of your allotted rental time.
