The Environmental Learning Center (ELC), a 64-acre 501(c)3 not-for-profit nature center serves children and adults through school excursion, camp, lectures series, adult education, internships, professional development, family festivals, youth outreach, and numerous partnerships and other programs that increase access to nature for people of all ages and walks of life. ELC offers eco-friendly corporate retreats, weddings, birthday parties and other family and group gatherings. Its campus includes native plant gardens, an interactive museum with aquaria and touch tank, pontoon boat, canoe and kayak rides, children’s nature play areas, visitor center, gift shop, picnic facilities and more. Nearly two miles of raised boardwalks, trails, docks and elevated lookout stations allow guests an immersive experience of mangrove forests and the lagoon. The campus is surrounded on three sides by the Indian River Lagoon, an estuary of national significance and one of the most biodiverse estuaries in North America, and is just across the bridge from Disney's Vero Beach Resort and public beach access to the Atlantic Ocean.
Our mission is to educate, inspire and empower all people to be active stewards of the environment and their own well-being.
